More Donations Coming! Thank You!

We ended July with a donation and started August with one, too! How amazing is that?! Thank you very much dear Ann-supporters. You know who you are. God bless you all!

Birthday Gift

This month is Annadel's birthday month! She will be turning 25 on the 25th! What would be a nice birthday gift to her than our love and support?

Personally, these are the three(3) things I would wish for her (in order):
1. Kidney for the transplant
2. Fund for the transplant
3. A stable job (programming or web design related)

So friends, please spread the word. Let us make Annadel's "silver" birthday one of the happiest!

Overwhelmed

I am overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received for the past two weeks. It has been among the best times since I put up this blog. We have received 4 donations already within 10 days and looks like more is coming.

UPDATE: Based on a suggestion I received from an email, I also added an option for bank account deposit - check the Donate page.

God bless you all!

Spread the word. Help. Pray for Ann ^^,

A Present to Ann

Ann Oseta (chronic kidney failure patient) with her peace sign
and me handing her a pen tablet she has long dreamt of.
Taken at MCM during her dialysis session July 26, 2013.
Last Friday - July 26th - I visited Ann during her dialysis session at Medical Center Manila (MCM). She looked healthier than when I last saw her in person. This is despite the sad news that I found out from her. Since last May, she went down to two (2) dialysis sessions per week as compared to the recommended 3x-a-week frequency due to financial issues. Her creatinine went up two (2) levels from 12 since then.  For a kidney failure patient, once creatinine level reached 5 - kidney is already in bad condition and already requires a regular dialysis.

For Ann, a creatinine level of 14 is fairly high. :(

I asked her what her doctor said about the decreased frequency, and she said that the doctor strictly required her to go back to 3x weekly at once if there is any occurrence of nausea, vomiting or other similarly alarming conditions.

One of the good news she shared with me is her availment of the SSS Disability ID which comes with a substantial amount of benefit. SSS provides up to around Php5,000.00 monthly to its disabled members - not enough - but is already a big help for Ann who is not able to keep a regular job with her current condition.

Ann is still working in Mom's Restaurant as an admin personnel. The restaurant has been generous enough to adjust to her dialysis sessions. When able and when there are opportunities, she also takes programming and/or designing projects. Ann is a software engineer familiar with Microsoft.NET technologies and with great artistic/designing capabilities. I used to work with her and she was one of the main resources I had on the team whom I can really count on to.

I really suck at drawing. ^^,
One of the reasons I visited her is to give her the long-time pending gift I bought especially for her - a pen tablet. Ann really likes drawing and according to one of our common friends, she has been wishing for a pen tablet even during the time she was still working with us. Based on her reaction - she really liked my present. I hope she can use that on a lot better ways than I was able to when I tested the product - Look! I drew a Minion!

Amigurumi.. Say What?

We received another donation from a kind-hearted colleague. Thank you very much!

Meanwhile...

Ann is living her life as normal as possible. She started a new hobby doing crochet. She has done these cute amigurumi's already. Who knows? This could be a start of something really good for her.

Amigurumi refers to the Japanese way of crocheting stuffed animals - although they can be other cute things like Bubbles below. (I swear, it took me four attempts before I could say the word properly ^^,)
domo-kun, keroberos, bubbles - amigurumis' by Ann
In case you are interested (because they can really make good souvenirs), you can channel your request to me - and I will be more than happy to help you get connected with her. However, this is not a compromise that she will be able to deliver - probably when she's completely back and kickin'.

I will keep you posted for news on her and on our fund-raising.

Being Generous

"He who is generous will be blessed, For he gives some of his food to the poor" - Proverbs 22:9

Today, I received a notification of a donation to "Helping Ann" - to the donor, thank you very much! Your generosity will be given back to you as blessings sevenfolds.

Speaking of generosity, Mom's Restaurant - employer of Ann's mom (although she is not the mom in Mom's - if you get it) - has again showed generosity to Ann. The last time she was confined, they helped out in paying for the bills.

Today, Ann is currently working as an administration officer at the restaurant - a 9-6 job with consideration on her dialysis sessions (so she doesn't have to work Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays). She does clerical stuff and answer phone calls. Mom's office is located right in front of where she lives so it is really convenient. Although the pay might not be the same as when she used to be in IT industry as a programmer, it will do for now - until such time she is healthy enough to do brain-tormenting coding jobs - which, she really misses already.

It is always nice to know there are good people willing to share their blessings to help others in need.

Hoping for A Good 2013 for Ann

I have not seen Ann personally for months now. I was supposed to see her last December to watch Rurouni Kenshin but I wasn't able to attend and had to watch it on a different theatre that day. However, during that day, we heard a sad news from her.

That day, her mom was confined to a hospital due to mild stroke. She wanted to be with her at the hospital but her Mom insisted that she go to the movie day anyway - probably, to make things lighter for the family. We were really saddened by that news because we know how worried Ann is for her mom's health - probably putting her own health issues aside. That would also mean they are at risk of losing the only stable source of income the family currently has with her mom working as a chef . She would most probably be needing a break from work after what happened.

At this moment, I am not aware if she has gotten back to work. As for Ann, she still continues to receive dialysis every Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. For the next three (3) months, paying them wouldn't be much of an issue because she has already claimed a renewed benefit of 45 dialysis sessions from PhilHealth.

In terms of our fund, we are not moving on. We are still stuck at Php47,800. I hope more people will see this blog and help Ann so she recovers faster.

I hope this year will be a good year for Ann. I hope everything turns out okay and she will be able to get back to the IT work force soon to provide for herself and her family.
